The organizers went all out this time, renting a villa right near the beach for the ultimate meeting point from September 15 to 17, 2023. The place was packed with restaurants and bars, all decorated in Shipwreck and Pirate designs—definitely the kind of setting that screams, “This is where all the shenanigans happen.”
Speaking of shenanigans, Psycho Babble made sure to deliver with an iconic shot: standing on the bow of the villa’s ship-shaped structure, arms wide, just like in Titanic (minus the tragic iceberg part, of course). He even had the dramatic “I’m the king of the world” pose down to a T. It’s safe to say we didn’t need Leo for this one.
Things really kicked off with the LED-Lantern Dance in the villa’s yard, which turned into an impromptu Chinese Grandma Dance-off. We’re talking full-on moves, synchronized with an intensity that could rival any national championship. The best part? The whole crew joined in, channeling their inner aunties and uncles. It was like a flashmob, but with more beer and questionable dance skills.
Then came Saturday’s trail, which, of course, wouldn’t be complete without something crazy happening. Enter BBC (Boom Box Carrier). He was cruising along, blasting tunes, when suddenly… boom. He took a tumble and ended up getting bit (or stung?) by some local ants—talk about a “nature’s revenge” moment. By dinner, the poor guy was completely out of it, needing to be transported to the hospital. But don’t worry, because this is a hash event, and there’s always a Happy Ending. Happy Ending was right there to provide translation services and moral support. BBC got a quick name change to Broken Boombox Carrier, and, of course, a full recovery was on the way, because in true hash fashion, the happy endings never stop!
Of course, the pool parties were next level. Between events, the pool was the place to be. The hotel staff and lifeguards were a little worried at first—maybe they didn’t expect the kind of chaos that comes with a bunch of hashers with too much energy and beer. But, after offering them a few chilled beers (or was it many beers?), they quickly warmed up to the party vibe. We even managed to get a few lifeguards to join in the fun. What happens at the pool party… stays at the pool party. Especially Psycho Babble’s power bank. Just let’s say he’ll be checking his pockets next time.
In the end, we crowned the winner of Rusty Man: Happy Ending from Suzhou. Clearly, he knows how to handle a hash, a pool party, and a translation mission all in one go. Well done, mate! Here’s to more crazy trails, wild pool parties, and unforgettable memories.
