Before the Covid-19 epidemic threw a spanner in the works the plan was to have a three day Hash, spread out over the Tombsweeping Festival (Qingming) long weekend, running from Saturday April 4 through Monday April 6. Considering the easing of measures aimed at containing the virus and the gradual resumption of transport and business across Yunnan, the Kunming and Chenggong H3 chapters have decided to go through with the event — albeit adapted to the situation, meaning no large gatherings as is customary during the Hash.

Hashers from all over China and abroad have already signed up, to partake in multiple Hashes spread out over the weekend, interspersed with dinners and drinks at different establishments across town. The program is aimed at showing off our city — Kunming after all offers excellent scenery, clean air and great food to be had after a long day of traipsing through the hills, accompanied by fresh brews from our local beer breweries.

The Kunming and Chenggong H3 committees will continue to review the Covid-19 situation and amend the program as necessary. It will likely be a two-day event — to accommodate those who will not have a long Tombsweeping Festival weekend this year, as many people will have to compensate for the involuntarily extended Spring Festival holiday.

Keep an eye on the calendar, for updates with regards to the Southwest China Hash.
